Movie Review and Preview

So, tonight I took a girl from my former school on a date. We decided at the last minute as we walked up tot he ticket window to see "The Last Air Bender"

NOW, the movie done by director "M. Night Shamalan" (sp?) is based of a Anime played on American TV channel Nickelodeon.

vvvv: This is a FAN MADE video of what would come if there was a movie made of it.

vvvv THIS is the trailer for M. Nights version that went into theaters.

Now, my critique is somewhat short. M. night although constantly being bashed for fucking up movies... did a decent job on this one, GIVEN the fact that he had a crap load of anime and pre-written, pre-drawn, pre-released story line and tv show to work off of. its a shame he effed the small bits he did at all. (>__<) First off, he should have fired his casting director....

I was unaware the world was made of of all white people... But this movie changed that. he must of not noticed that in the cartoon, the different tribes resembled there real life geographical counterparts.

The southern water tribe = Eskimo-type people. The earth nation was Native American/Hispanic type people. The fire nation were Asian type, resembled Japanese mostly. And the air nation, was a mixture of White/ Asian influence.

Second off, M. Night condensed a good half the story line and the movie skipped around a little bit, making it hard to follow if you hadn't seen the cartoon before. This alone made me want to ask my date if we could sneak into another movie, since she kept leaning in saying, "I'm lost, who is he?"

Third off, That dumb ass director condensed a movie that already ran just under 2 hours. Wtf?! why condense it if its 1hr 45mins long, just get your lord of the ring shit on and make a 3 hrs give us the full story line!

THEEEEENNNNN! Inside that two hours of condense storyline, he only gave us one chapter... OUT OF THREE!!!!!

But off to better things, In the commercials for the movie before hand, I saw a trailer for a movie I've been waiting to see if it got put into productions. THE GREEN HORNET. Many of you know that hip hop was shaped by pop culture, and one of the biggest influences was martial arts, and BRUCE LEE. well, Bruce Lees FIRST American TV acting role, was as KATO, in "THE GREEN HORNET".

For those of you who don't know who Bruce Lee was, here's the second fight scene he has in his debut American movie, ENTER THE DRAGON vvvv

This movie stars Seth Rogen, from movies such as, "Knocked up", "Zach And Mari Make A Porno", "Pineapple Express", and "Funny People".

Jay Chou is a Chinese pop star and has Acted in a well know live action movie of an anime called "Initial D (The Movie)". If it looks familiar, Initial D is what was used as the base for "The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift" IMO Initial D was a better made movie, better (and more) racing scenes.

Heres a trailer vvv

So with no further a due, everyone, THE GREEN HORNET TRAILER! vvv

The Second Effect

So, I'm going to be posting up a bunch of Album Critiques for a bit because were so far behind and have to play catch up, before we can be a step ahead of the game like in 2008.

This post is about a artist I introduced about a year ago, called Kill Paradise. A while back KP put out his third album called "The Second Effect" You can listen to the album in full along with the rest of his music on his purevolume @ http://www.purevolume.com/killparadise/albums

but here's my fav song off the album, its called "Just Friends?"

This album, although short is simply amazing and fun to listen to in the car with your friends, or when your doing some spring cleaning. It's got a fun upbeat tempo, and fun lyrics. The songs are all poppy love ballads, but at the same time promote having fun with out getting overly serious. It's so fun to listen too. ENJOY =)

The Storm Troopers 365 Project

Hey guys, Remote here. So as you all know I'm heavily into photography and it's what I'm studying in school as my major. I just wanted to bring you guys a set of 365 of the coolest StarWars action figure pictures ever!

As you know hip hop is based around that geeky vibe, and pop culture of the 80's, and Star Wars has played a decent influence in a lot of Backpackers lives. So Enjoy the few I post here, and continue over to Stefan's Flickr to see the rest @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/st3f4n/sets/72157616350171741/

Thank Me After Your Done Crying

So, lately I've been feeling really sad, or indifferent almost. I've got this feeling that the world around me is spinning faster than I can turn to watch it. But at the same time the days move by to slow to keep my attention; so I fall asleep and forget what I should be doing.

This along with the feeling that I've fallen in love with a girl I've only met once and danced with at the club, a girl I went to school with, and acted like I wasn't interested in her; and another girl I've only met once, and talked to for a total of 2 minutes... Intrigues me, knowing full well that I don't have any true feelings for any of them.

I've now figured out what has caused these feelings to start. Drakes new album is so expressive, that he actually conveys his feelings into your mind if you listen to the album repeatedly in a days span.

My mind was blown when I realized this. Rap and R&B music has taken such a poppy turn in recent events of the media's control that it's rare a song comes out that does anything more than make you wanna dance, party and get drunk.

Thank Me Later conveys FULL FEELINGS across the air waves as if Aubrey is spilling his soul to you in a confessional. Well put your Pope hat on, and dig in deep, because it's a roller coaster of emotions for yourself after he's done.

If you haven't picked up this album yet I strongly recommend it. I will be playing this in the car on my next date, hopefully it'll turn my date on like it does me, cuz my emotions are running high, and I'm almost to short to control them.

Break Through Artist of the Week

This weeks break through artist of the week, is 17 year old Kristian Garcia, aka Transcendent, out of Cypress CA. I met dude in the "Freestyle Rhyme Session" of Bboy.org. We clashed at first during the online cyphers and discussion of hip hop and what it means to be an emcee. But since then we've become some what close, and I'm proud to say dude can seriously spit. He just recently got offered a deal at a local independent label around his home town. He blessed us with an exclusive preview of a song off his up coming mix tape enjoy.

Now obviously that's just a short verse. so enjoy a few of his other tracks hes let out on to youtube.

We here at LSG wish Kristian good luck with his career and expect him to make it in the underground scene with no problem.

Next week we'll introduce a hot gospel Emcee from the ATL who's coming up.

Thank Us Later

Drakes first ever Studio Album entitled "Thank Me Later" dropped last month. As many of our readers know we introduced Drake to you about 2 years ago when we first started, letting you know, he'd be the next big star.. Well Thank us now or Thank us later because we were right.

But, as well stated in "Hip Hop Wired" 's review of the album, Drakes new album isn't meant for the hardcore rap fan. This album is more so an R&B album than it is a Rap album. And rightly so; Drake essentially took his life story, added his Ill flow, and up staged Kanye's use of real music in 808's to provided us with 14 incredible tracks.

But don't get me wrong I'm a huge Kanye fan; in fact Kanye produced one of my fav tracks on the album.

Show Me A Good Time

This album is a must have, Drake bought back the true feelings of a Rap/R&B album, reminiscent of Outkast.
